Paris Apartment Vacation

Historic Paris Two Room Apartment

This delightful Paris Apartment Vacation two room apartment is located near the Louvre, just off Rue du Louvre and Rue Etienne Marcel. It has recently received a major face lift including new painting and curtain replacement.

This unique historical apartment was part of the home of the Countess DuBarry who was the mistress of Louis XV. In fact we are told that she was dragged from this building during the revolution (when she was in her 70’s) and taken to the Guillotine.  That was her punishment for having had a relationship with the father of Louis XVI. We were fortunate enough to find a portrait of the young Countess when we visited the Chateau Du Pray in the Loire Valley. We photographed that painting and have an 8 x 10 of the Countess in the apartment now.

The small galley type kitchen is perfect for heating up the prepared meals from our famous Rue Montorgueil.

We of course do not occupy the entire building as the countess did, but have the part that was her living room, where she received the elite of France. Today that room is divided into two rooms + a small galley type kitchen and a bathroom with step in shower.

FAMOUS FOOD:

This is the right bank of Paris and the famous market district of Rue Montorgueil.  For three solid blocks this famous street is the food basket  of the right bank.  Whether you are shopping for fresh baked croissants and fruit for your morning breakfast, or deserts for your midnight snack, Rue Montorgueil has what you are looking for.  Plus it has several take out places with full meals, meat markets, fruit markets, cheese boutiques, and two small super markets.  Restaurants in this area are very high quality.  Rue De La Jussienne, Rue Mandar and Rue Montorgueil are limited to pedestrians and you will find it charming to walk in this very French neighborhood.

Walk 5 minutes and you will be at the Metro. A 10-minute walk will take you to the Louvre, the very center of Parisian life.  Within walking distance is the Museum of Modern Art, Notre Dame Cathedral, Place Vendome, Tuilleries Gardens, the Champs Elysees,  L'Opera, the Seine, and the Left Bank. You could not be more central.

For guests arriving into CDG or ORLY this apartment is on the RER line that serves them both.   It is only two blocks away.
